Just bought a first edition (98 year old!) copy of this for a reread. Only a fraction in, but this book is bursting with some of the most beautiful descriptions of nature I’ve ever read. Add a main character who’s a tall, honor-bound, Scotsman with deep wounds (physical and emotional😌) and I’m hooked.

- male main character who thinks and acts like a real person (hilarious, irrational, a little gross cuz he’s a teen dude, also a total romantic)
- strong, brave, feminine main female character!
- telepathy
- God themes! Christian allegory!
- sloowwww burn romance
- swordfights!
- Mulan ish elements!
