DNF - returned to the library. Borrowed as Behan was January's man on my 2026 Irish writers calendar.
Some quite funny bits of writing, will return to I think. The writing for newspaper was quite similar to Flann O'Brien which I also enjoy.

Quite different to the film now!

There’s a reference to the seemingly 11 year old protagonist being ‘jailbait’, I sure hope their youthful appearance has a material effect on the story otherwise this is gonna be queasy reading for a while!

Good. I read it or had it read to me as a small child. I’m planning to read the full set in the old (publication) order.

Also, pretty sure this Aslan character is Jesus Christ…

Good, I like Flann / Myles style and it evokes an older Ireland but in a playful way, not the misery of a Frank McCourt… #privilege
