Back on the shelf. I just can’t concentrate on it right now so I’ll try again some other time

I’ve read about 85% of this book and hard-put to finish it. I’ve never read so much exposition in a novel in my life. Isn’t “show don’t tell” rule #1 of fiction writing. Barfoot tells everything throughout this book. The characters are so flat as to be nearly indistinguishable from each other. I think I’m deliberately not going to finish it out of spite.

I started reading this after reading The Netanyahus because I love books that use real people as a characters (in the way that Cohen and Castellani do). Not a lot of effort in fleshing out the more famous people but the focus on Frank Merlo makes up for that.

This one is slower going for me in that I enjoy it but I don’t feel compelled to read it. I want to finish it though, so I can move on to something else.

I’m really enjoying this so far. Just wish the font wasn’t so small, haha. Makes it hard to read at night.
