Listening to audio version - and have really been enjoying it! Has definite “Man Called Ove” vibes.

A gift from my amazing friend! Thank you Megan! Finding time to read in Poland has been tough…but I’m getting a bit of time in here and there! So far- the book lives up to Lisa See’s standards.

This has definitely picked up! 😱 I’m in a part of the book where the author the psychological manipulation the Nazis used on their countrymen to get them to do what they wanted. It’s brilliantly written… and positively disturbing. It’s an angle of WWII I have not often encountered

The first chapter captures the feeling of having dementia, as I would imagine it, fantastically. Since then…up to now…things have been moving painfully slow. The story is starting to pick up momentum now… just hoping it keeps it up!

So far a wonderful book by the same author who wrote The Help. So very difficult to put down!

Okay. I had to look it up. Apparently this slow part was Bram Stoker’s “calm before the storm”. I shall push through…trying to enjoy day-to-day Victorian life.

I’m not sure I’m keen on this version. The beginning is all about Jonathon Harker’s experience at Transylvania - which I cannot gush over enough- and now it’s switched over to a series of letters between Mina and Lucy. This portion thus far hasn’t been nearly as captivating. (Reading about all of Lucy’s love interests leaves me yawning.) Perhaps this is how it is meant to be? I’m not certain…

I’ve started reading this and decided I’m simply not in the mood. I need something with more substance. I’ll try it another time!
