Fascinating, eye-opening and scary.

So Sterne got to his author's preface on page 130. I'm on chapter 38, book 3, and Tristram, conceived on page 1, has not yet been born. A serious commitment to digression.

Completed the first novel in the trilogy. What began as something like Anna Karenina, ended as a strange otherworldly tale of meat machines and children of the light, woven around an alien perception of some of the major events of the mid 20th century. Eager to see where the second book "Ice" goes from here.

Really engrossed. It's a little bit Gaiman, a little bit Lovecraft, and a fair whack of David Lynch. But also fresh and different to all of them.

Very much enjoying Tolstoy so far.

Only one chapter in but I am enjoying this immensely. Baroque and humorous. Contemporary but with slimy encrustations of aged underbelly.
