Very short book but the writing style is causing my reading to be slow. It's stream of consciousness, with limited punctuation (although more than some) so I'm rereading about every third or fourth sentence because I lose the subject. I may need to just read for the jist of it, rather than the literal meaning of each sentence, especially because there is so much repetition.

I tried. I don't like romance but I thought it may be tolerable enough to check off the Romance box in the challenge. But no. I think this will be a DNF.

Looking for something that may calm this Minnesotan right now. Middle grade civil rights? Hopefully will have a positive message? (The Cult of Trump didn't help me now!)

The story is not unfolding how I expected.

There's a lot going on in Minnesota. Needed something lighter than learning about the victims of Jack the Ripper (had started The Five)!

Struggling with the length of this one. Have read so many comments stating it picks up and the end is wonderful, do I'll keep plugging away.

This might become a DNF. It has been interesting enough, but I feel like I get the gist and may not be interested enough in business to continue.

Eek. This is disturbing. Should be a must-read (although I'm sure plenty of people would say women are overreacting!)

I'm liking it more than I was when I was a third of the way in, but I'm still not getting the hype. Was the hype because of her other books? I like it enough, but so far it's no where near my top memoirs.

Quirky book, fun characters, wacky mishaps.

I found this at a book fair. I am not usually drawn to this time period, but because I know the author (but was unaware of the book), I was drawn to it. What a great way to make me learn about the American Revolution. And a WOMAN'S story during the Revolution? Even better!

How old is Whitley? Should I keep trying to figure it out, or just accept that I don't know!

How soon is too soon to decide this will be a 5-star read?

I may DNF this one. I love the premise and the book would have been very helpful in my 20's. I am now at a point where I'm more interested in the history, policy, and societal forces rather than needing these reminders.

I hesitate to admit it, but so far this isn't holding my attention like I anticipated. Perhaps unfairly I thought it may be similar to a Nora Ephron series of essays, or that of another second-wave-feminist writer, but so far, I'm not feeling it.

Glad I found this entertaining little book while searching my library app for Fahrenheit 451 (which currently has a waiting list of "several months.") The concept is a librarian talking to (or writing letters to) lots and lots of well known books, so a good, light choice for people who love books.

Reading this so shortly after Weyward was not planned, but so far it seems as though there are a lot of similarities.

I keep going back to reread sections. If I knew ahead of time how detailed and historic this would be, I wouldn't have read it. I'm glad I didn't know because I'm learning a LOT.

So far irreverent, brilliant, absurd and on a tightrope precariously suspended above fantastical.

I think I'm going to DNF this one. Too much chemistry-type stuff for me. Not quite holding my interest. Separate from it not totally holding my interest, it does seem a lot like the Sackler family just decades earlier!

The women in pink suits gave me the impression that this would be more focused on women. While there are frequent reminders that some businesses recruited women to sell and the one woman's story is woven throughout the book, there sure seems to be a lot about the history of men in Amway.

Glad I kept going after not loving the first couple long chapters. I'm enjoying it more now that the author is telling her story and not history from hundreds of years ago (no offense to explorers of hundreds of years ago!)

Returning to a childhood favorite to balance out all the heaviness of recent books.

Fascinating! This book puts into words a lot of thoughts I've had in the last few decades (starting with an early '00s reflection that I was lucky to go through my 17-22 years in a time of grunge and flannel). Listening to audio but definitely want to reread paper/ebook.

Perhaps a bit early to commit to 5 stars, but it's sure seeming like it. Not many people can share a story of infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan. Fascinating.

I keep being reminded of Keiko from Convenience Store Woman, although the main characters have plenty of differences.

I wish he'd quit calling her "Violence!"
