This is the last of Hazel Rowley's biographies I have to read. She only wrote four books, each of them biographies of significant twentieth century cultural/political/literary figures.

I'm always interested in the lives of writers, especially Australian writers. Biographies of writers have a special place on my bookshelves.

I'm glad I decided to borrow this from the library - I'm enjoying reading these essays, tuning into an author new to me whose voice is interesting, human and strong.

It's so relaxing to be back in the arms of this gifted stylist who is undoubtedly one the best Australian writers. This new book is a collection of essays.

It's been a while since I read a Young Adult book, but I like to stay in touch. The library abstract lists the subject as: Online chat groups/ Internet abduction/ suspense fiction - feels like a page-turner so far...

Reading this play on 'Pride and Prejudice' for my local bookgroup discussion. Quite entertaining so far. I saw the BBC mini-series of this book and thought it was terrible because the main characters, Elizabeth & Darcy, were completely miscast lacking any semblance of sexual chemistry. So far their relationship seems much more convincing perhaps because the ironic tone of the original novel is stronger in writing.

It's interesting finding out about the history of Nigeria through the eyes of diverse group of people.

This year I'm in a couple of book groups. This book is for Radio National's African Book Club.

Dessaix is a wonderfully erudite writer deep dyed in literary culture with a radical, cheeky personal voice.

I'm almost half-way through this novel, my best effort so far with Carey's books - I've never been able to get into any I've tried. This one has a political theme which makes it more interesting to me.
