Oooooof, man. This is a lot. I don’t know if the series is meant to be read back to back lol.

Look, I tried. I don’t think I can put any more of myself into this. I don’t care about anyone or what happens to them lol. DNF. Change my mind!

Not going to lie. Very little has happened for being a quarter of the way through the book…

3.75? Overall, I am enjoying this trilogy… Except for the fact that I think it could’ve been a duology. This book seemed to lag a little in the middle, with not a whole lot happening to progress the plot. However, I like both Harper and Nolan as characters, and I will read the third book to see how it winds down.

Listen, I’m gonna tell you right now. If you have the option to listen to the audiobook/immersive read? Just don’t. The accents are AWFUL and make it hard to stay in the story. I’m pushing through because everywhere says the second half is better than the first, and I can see the we might be in an upswing…

I’m conflicted. Far be it from me to yuck someone’s yum, but I’m over half way through this monster of book and I’m walking the line of a DNF. The FMC is insufferable, and the story moves at a glacial pace. At the same time, I feel like I’m too far in to give up? Gah.

WTF, though?

I’ve read that people feel this book has little to no romance, and I can decidedly say, at 50% of the way through this book that these people are crazy. The yearning in the book has no bounds.

Exhausting.

Oy, this is well written, but the FMC is soooo insecure, it’s hard to take. Meanwhile, the MMC is FINE.

Oy. Chapter 14. Coming for the heart strings.

The FMC is insufferable. Like, a child who can’t get over something that happened to her when was 18, and has to take it out on everyone else. I hope this is the point of the plot, and she gets better or I can’t see myself making it to the end…

My god. This is heartbreaking.

Margaret Owen? This is some good shit. It’s heartbreaking, everyone is dying, I want Vanja and Emeric to find each other so badly. Honestly, hell yes.

My gosh, it’s hard to “watch” Emeric and Vanja bicker this way. The heartbreak between them is too much!

3.75. Nice and easy. Quick to read and enjoyable. I really like Hannah Bonam-Young’s books, and I’ve got some others on my TBR.
