About halfway through and really enjoying this book. Definitely making up for how much I did not like the second book. But still it’s very long and I wonder if it really needed to be.

Idk I’m at the halfway mark and this is just dragging. I was intrigued enough, but there’s been no development at all, the same toxic horrible relationship just goes on forever. And Lucy just made the most absurd decision ever and they might have lost me.

This is so interesting and I’m really enjoying learning about the history of food preservation. I had to return the book to the library but I’m hoping to continue it again later.

Dropping this one. He is way too sympathetic to Koresh and is clearly still mentally in this cult. I’m not getting anything out of this and would much rather hear from someone who truly survived a cult, not someone who sounds like he wishes he was still in it.
Ex. A woman reported Koresh beat her *8 month old baby* for *40 mins* but this guy never saw him do anything like that sooo… he just shrugs it off.

Putting this on hold for a bit while I decide if I want to keep reading. It’s been OK so far (not amazing but not terrible) but as someone sensitive to animal abuse a certain scene really got to me.

Still a bummer but I am learning a lot about this period of time I didn’t know much about.

This is just depressing. But something’s happening and I really hope there’s some joy soon.

Slow! Thought this would be a fun and quick read, but it’s proving to be neither so far. Will keep going a bit but it may end up in the DNF pile at this rate.

Stopped reading this because I was too horrified by it. Maybe it’s not futuristic/dystopian “enough”... it feels too possible? What they do to them... the book tells you enough of it to make me feel sick. Not sure if I’ll be finishing it.
