He lets this hang in the air, until Joyce says, “Well, let’s all enjoy the detailed answer, shall we?”

Chapter 29: “Chat and Crochet is a fairly new group, Detective Chief Inspector,” says Ibrahim. “Formed by members who had become disillusioned with Knit and Natter. Too much nattering and not enough knitting, apparently.”

A good description that demonstrates that no matter what you do or say, a significant portion of the jury of public opinion will always be against you and horribly offended. They will also manipulate your words and meaning.

It seems like everyone’s just a little too emotionally mature for me to believe these characters have any basis in reality.

Chapter 10. Wow! I’m so happy I stuck with this book. I felt like the first few chapters were different ways of saying Let Them.

I thought I understood the “let me” part, but I didn’t. This chapter about how the gift of comparison and jealousy can be a teacher for you was awesome.

I will never forgive Jo for not loving Laurie.

Why do we need to hear a retelling of the entire play about Rodrigo?

It was so touching when Sam is looking for Frodo in the Orc tower, and he is absolutely terrified, and he starts singing.

I love how Sam describes Lothlorien. “Whether they’ve made the land or the land’s made them, It’s hard to say, if you take my meaning. It’s wonderfully quiet here. Nothing seems to be going on, and nobody seems to want it to. If there’s any magic about, It’s right down deep, where I can’t lay my hands on it”

The Company has finally reached Lothlorien and a much needed respite from danger and a chance to start grieving for Gandalf. They meet Galadriel and Celeborn.

They just encountered the Bridge of Khazad-Dum (doom) and the Balrog. This scene always makes me cry when I watch the movie and the book was no exception. Gandalf’s unwavering commitment and bravery is so heroic. After, when the members of the fellowship are weeping as they run-heartbreaking.

I love how hobbits combine story telling and songs.

And Tom Bombadil and his song is the best. I’ve been singing “Ho Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadilo!!!” all day.

Chapter 3: What! Frodo is SELLING Bag End? I’m so glad they cut that detail out of the movie because I am furious. Bag End is the most cozy, beautiful, lovely place in Middle Earth and I just can’t bear for Frodo to not have Bag End to come home to. Especially knowing what he’s about to go through. Isn’t the thought of returning to the Shire the thing that keeps him and Sam going?

3.5 stars. I loved how all the characters got together for a caper. But some parts just felt too convenient and too much explaining from the characters.
