A book published in the 2000's should not be quoting research done in the 1970s and 1980s without including a huge disclaimer about the current validity of that research. In a field that has changed so vastly, it is disingenuous to present this as the most up--to-date info. It leaves me with the feeling that the author is trying to ignore research she doesn't agree with.
