So far, this is a charming book at times. However, I can't help asking, "Where are you going with all this?". The footnotes are mildly engaging, the characters are mildly interesting... I hope that things get better.

Two stories stand out so far. Colin Dexter's "The Case of the Curious Quorum" is so enchantingly British... classically so. Stuart McBride's "Daphne McAndrews and the Smack-Head Junkies" is absolutely hilarious.
