DNFed at 77% so still counting it but WEW. Y’all, this was not good. Strong start with interesting characters in an interesting setting but then from 30% on it’s just… really forced plot development? Way too rushed, not character driven at all because we’re not given any time with the characters. Thought I’d push thru until the spicy payoff but alas. It was spicy as mayonnaise. RIP my time.

The first 50 pages took me 2 days, the next ~250 took me 3 hours.

It took me about 300 pages to truly get into this book, which is about 250 more than can be expected from any reasonable reader.

While there is something to be said for fictional non-fiction, I’m having a hard time staying motivated to continue. The only thing that got me through the history of a fictional city is knowing that the next story in this anthology will be different.
