Sigh. I give up.

I started off enjoying this, but I'm steadily losing interest.

Why, oh why, did I wait so long to read this book? This is so bitingly funny. (NO BUTTER IN HELL, PEOPLE.)

This has all the elements of her other books, but it's not quite as amazing. Maybe because this is the third in a row I've read? Will reserve judgment for later.

This is my reading-in-between-novels book, so my progress is slow, but each story is what I would expect from Okoraor--vivid, sharp, and rewarding.

This is a wonderful, wonderful book.

Re-reading this for my Raksura fix until The Siren Depths comes out in e-book format.

The prose goes clunk, clunk, clunk. I find myself skimming more and more. It's a race which comes first: getting to the end, or giving up completely.

Oh dear ghu, this is as cheesy as I remember.

Still engrossed, in spite of the glitches in the e-book version. I'm delighted that John Glasken makes an appearance, and in an entirely unexpected way.

It started off a bit scattered, but now I'm thoroughly engrossed in the story.

I loved the first third, but the glow has worn off and I've started to skim. Also, has the author ever actually bought a house?

DWJ is amazing as always. It started slowly, but like all DWJ books, the weirdness and wonderfulness and just plain good story gather momentum.

This might be my favorite Sherwood Smith book so far.

Sigh. I love police procedurals and detective novels and mysteries. With this one, however, I keep bumping up against the author's sexist treatment of women. It makes the book unpleasant to read. I might give it another 10 pages, but I doubt things will improve.

2/3 through the book. The section covering the Games themselves is much better--smoother prose, more vivid descriptions, and some really nice action scenes. I still don't like Katniss, but she's more interesting now. Still skimming here and there, but overall less annoyed with the book.

Almost halfway through and disappointed by the cardboard world and flat characters.

Two thirds of the way through. I love the unrepentant snark, and the scheming, but I think this is a book best taken in small doses.

I'm about halfway through and loving this book even more than I loved the first one.

This is my book to read while waiting after work. Deeply satisfying prose and story and world mythology.
