What other author would, in their serious crime thriller, include a paragraph from the perspective of a crocodile with a burgeoning preference for the taste of human.

I'm only 10 chapters in, but these low ratings are criminal. The way Thomas Harris tells a story is so rich, I missed this voice.

I'm gonna put this one down. Each story is devastating and I don't need any help being depressed right now.

Picked this up from Planet Books in Mt Lawley, read the first two stories while waiting for the Dethklok show. I'm not sure if I'll continue with it because I'm deep in the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy trenches right now.

Maybe it’s a bad sign that my favourite parts are when the author is quoting from other works but hey, at least I’m learning something.

I don’t have the word to express how excited I am to read a text so dense and purple on the subject of fisting.

Well. I would love to finish reading this but my copy goes straight from page 42 to page 523 and then eventually picks up again at page 91 so. Yeah. About 50 pages missing and I don’t want to just keep reading skipping a chunk of the book so I have to put it down for now.

I enjoyed the section on trances. It’s nice to get fresh inspiration for things to try.

Perhaps I could have phrased that last update better. It’s comforting to know that the work I’ve been doing for the last 10 years and the conclusions I have arrived at are shared with others. I value that I came by them my own way, under my own steam. I see a lot of the group work here that I haven’t done, I don’t know if I feel comfortable doing it. Trust is very hard for me and this is asking for a lot.

Again more stuff I already do day to day. I can’t tell if I’m smug that I’m on the right track or kinda disappointed that I’m not getting more out of this. It’s a bit jumbled and repetitive, I liked the segment on money, that really rings true to me.

It’s not with ill intent, but it’s clear the author/s haven’t read an inclusive language guide, frustrating!

I guess it was published in 2001, such a thing probably didn’t exist. Hmm. Update needed!

Aside from that it’s interesting that most of the ideas here I’m already familiar with from other “secular” sources (therapy lol). I always find that crossover interesting.

Getting annoyed with the way this is written. If assurances weren’t made that Reclaiming is inclusive of all genders, I would be less frustrated. There’s a difference between being welcoming in theory and making an effort towards truly inclusive change. None of the work is being done to actively breakdown and re-evaluate binary notions of gender here. “You may assume all genders are included” gee thanks!

Chapters 8 and 9 are really really funny

This is the cutest effing book I have ever seen

(…cont) The custom text James has added throughout are Ulva’s notes on where to find these fungi in our world, and any other details that she learned about them. Every gift he seems to outdo himself, this is so perfect and amazing and I can’t wait to go mushroom picking on our next session.

James has added a bunch of custom text boxes and a bookplate to bring this book into the world of our D&D campaign. My character was adopted by a well respected mage, secretly a warlock named Ulva Drach. She hatched me out of my egg (I’m a kenku, a flightless crow like creature) and taught me how to be a secret warlock too. She has sadly passed away, the bookplate says “ex Libris Ulva Drach”.
