One chapter in and I’m already feeling drawn to this book. My longtime pastor for 20 years was not only mentored by Nouwen, he exemplified his spirit in his pastoring hundreds of people in the Christian faith. His soul left this earth July 2025 but will live on in those he touched with Jesus’s love for His creation. And so with that, on to Chapter 2, but not before I collage and write on Chapter 1. Shalom.

Dense read. And with that it will be a slow, methodical march through the pages.

This book is slow going for me as it prompts my own writing in marvelous ways. That alone makes this book a five star read. Probably will not finish the book for some time.

Kinda boring. 🥱 Unfortunately it doesn’t shed any light on the practice. Plus I wonder how Christians can incorporate better living practices into daily life? I will keep listening to the book on tape. However, I have read from other reviews, that the last two chapters can be skipped.

This book has been in my collection to read forever. Her biography included in the book interests me more than the three novellas. Will let you know at the end which captures my attention the most.

Gorgeous word choices that leave little room for understanding where I am in the book. Yes, of course, I am still in the first chapter. I hope more story emerges in time to save the book from utter disaster.

The premise is great. Explore the vacant weeks in Paris, Ms Bishop has not written herself. Perhaps I am simply not an Elizabeth Bishop fan?

The words feel too dry. I squirm in my seat to demands I sit longer. Wait. The promise her poems will collect water and deluge me with refreshment, eases me back into my seat. I can only spare one more day... then I disappear. Unless of course the poems console my restless spirit, whereby I shall stay a bit longer with the book. What am I missing? How far must I dig? Where is the poem to haunt me while I live?

I must apologize as I have misjudged their story. A book to read before reading Plath, knowing her life, to piece the puzzle together.

Well, I have written 10 poem drafts so far, so I would say it sparks my interest. It satisfies on many levels. Part biography, which i love to read, im quite noisy, part writer's manual and part muse. Marvelous...now if i had more time.
