I'm a big fan of Derek Robinson and his wonderfully realistic and caustically witty description of RAF combat aviation in both World War I and World War II. In particular, his Piece of Cake and A Good, Clean Fight are brilliant takes on RAF pilots in the air battles for France and over Britain and the Western Desert Air Force and ground long-range desert patrols in North Africa. This is a lesser book but good read.
