A chapter at a go is about all I can stand. What isn't helping is the author's penchant for jumping ahead a year, which dispels any hope for suspense, say, about the border crossing, and we now know this putz is still dawdling on his journal a year after the border. Clearly they arent apprehended for at least the next year in the narrative. We will ignore the absurdity of this "land of the clones" thing.

Picking it back up after a severely long hiatus, including Look at Me, which left me unaffected. This is similarly not holding me. Although i did rather like the chapter right before A to B. The one with Lou and Rhea and Jocelyn. The book is in my work bag and its time to clear it out for something new. So onward I'll read....

I guess I'm late to the party, but this is the latest from King that I'm reading. I'm behind on the current publications (Mr. Mercedes and the sequel) and there's a fair number on the backlist i also haven't read, too. (Regulators, desperation, needful things, insomnia, dreamweaver, The Shining. ) but im reasonably up to date on his short stories this seems the most recent. And I'm enjoying them, what more can I ask?

The cliff hanger is FALSE. we are still with boring old jack crow carping about... Whatever, I can't recall right now it's that dull. Somehow these people are annoyed Feliz ain't dead yet, and intellectually WHY? They are annoyed a soldier is surviving? SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THIS IS BAD??? The reaction of these characters is off, if you ask me, and rings false. And is putting me off the book.

finally, back to Felix, and the interesting part of the story. after all this time bored, a cliffhanger as we jump back into Felix's experience.

fourteen pages and I'm nearly asleep. A picnic. if I want to read about picnics, I'll read Jane Austen. Let's get back to the antwar.

this "journal" format doesn't make any sense. We're in the past, yet "I see you tomorrow, what follows is my notes while I was with the clone..." how does this note appear in the journal?

reading a second time. I really like the gruffs element. that I particularly enjoy.

SO DAMN DULL. DULL. DULL. DULL. nothing kills a novel for me more that dumb narrators, dumb concepts (see my review of the sparrow, say) or self absorbed narrators, no matter how candid.
