The Long Walk

Matthew is finished with The Road to Verdun: World War I's Most Momentous Battle and the Folly of Nationalism
Rather dry but an interest case on the national mood that led France to make mistake after mistake in World War I, culminating in the massive deaths at Verdun. Revenge for 1870, the inability to tactically retreat, and the belief that elan could defeat machine guns led to more deaths than was necessary, or so argues this author.

2 shitty books for the price of 1! Both of these stories were poorly written, with ridiculous plots and flat characters. This is the kind of book you throw away when you're done to prevent another person from suffering through it.

Matthew is finished with Palm Sunday: An Autobiographical Collage
This was an unnecessary collection of navel gazing.

Matthew is finished with City of Lies: Love, Sex, Death, and the Search for Truth in Tehran
An interesting look at the underbelly of Tehran, which is far different and more similar than other large cities than you might imagine.
