Another Adrienne Young book with a strong-willed heroine, this one set in Bastian, first introduced in her Fable duology. Bryn returns home at 18 to carve her place with the family, the Roths, a morally dubious clan whose patriarch wants to enter refined society- by any means necessary. Bryn falls for the family’s silversmith, a young man indentured into the family, who is (of course) tall, dark, and mysterious.

I stopped on a pretty intense page- the Tear is probably going to have to go to war with the Mort and the Red Queen got some kind of bad message, but it switched narration right away. I'm in suspense about what's going to happen next.

My main character, Kelsea, has just learned the truth about her mom and I love how she is struggling to fit together the two sides: the truth and the dream she has held about her mom since a child. It's interesting to read about her finding her own identity as queen.
