I've read these stories before in her collected works, but not in a long time. Unsurprisingly, they hold up. She kind of ruins other short storiers. No one else is quite as mean or funny.

I like this book, but it is very long.

Finished S.S. Criminy. Solid story. O'Connor-esque, particularly in the ending.

Two stories in, and rather than building toward the supernatural, both stories have featured the weird event as a point of catalyst for the characters. No one has a bad word to say about Ballingrud's prose, and I don't either. These are sharp stories, fluidly written. Really enjoying them.

Really enjoying this so far. He's mean Bradbury.

I've been looking Aickman for a long time, I guess. Macabre and excellent. The first story (The School Friend) creeps along in a realistic vein, becomes odd, and then goes totally insane.
