I'm going to start ripping out my eyebrow hair if I keep reading books with fantastic queer representation that are simultaneously so unreadably mediocre that I have to DNF.

I have a shit ton of ARCs that were given to me by someone downsizing, so I've added a bunch of them to my own-it and thus to my TBR shelves in an attempt to keep track of them and hopefully weed some out. I also wanted my shelves to reflect the books I actually own, hence the inclusion of all my assigned readings for literature classes. I've got more books back in TX I'll have to go through this summer too.

Far be it from me to be an anti-woke crusader but this book is heavy-handed as hell

Man I love reading books with a romance between adults that isn't just smut. Save us Rebecca Ross....

I will give this book five stars if the catastrophic event Libby has to cause to get back to the present day is 9/11.

Don't have the energy for reviews for my latest reads right now. Simply read my mind.

I was ENRAGED by my local Barnes and Noble putting a note under Sabaa Tahir's An Ember in the Ashes saying it's "perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas." As if that isn't sooo disrespectful to Tahir as simply a better writer than Maas and her problematic fairy smut, their books are NOTHING alike. But I will hold my tongue and hope readers can think for themselves.

I have a TBR list the length of me but I'm currently hooked on rereading the Purple Hyacinth webtoon. I will not apologize.

Okay children, it’s rant time.
Speaking from experience as a HUMAN PERSON and not a book character, let me tell you how a romance can happen if you initially disliked the person: the quality you disliked is either due to your immaturity or theirs, and you both mature so it no longer is a problem. I’m sick of seeing books where the girl initially thinks the guy is annoying but comes to love him. That doesn’t HAPPEN!

Nobody f*cking knows what a Mary Sue is, and it shows in their reviews.

A Mary Sue is a female character who is essentially perfect in every way, but (usually) with 0 personality, except maybe to bitch about some minor thing wrong with them or their life.
A Mary Sue is NOT any f. character you don’t like, and they ESPECIALLY aren’t a f. character that is meant to be ordinary in some way or another.

Get it right.

Oh, also. (I’m doing this now, apparently, because I got a few likes on an update so people must see these.)

I don’t care if you don’t like Renee Ahdieh or Sarah J Maas. I do. It’s a difference of opinion that I respect, even if I don’t quite understand it. But why do I have to see them get trashed in every review for an unrelated book? Give them and their fans (me) a break. Gawd.

I may have just committed a cardinal sin and have gotten a bunch of to-reads from a few blog lists on the Internet, since I was looking for fairytale retellings. So I can’t guarantee the quality of the upcoming series of books I’m reading. I’m a little nervous. But thankfully I have no qualms about DNFing if the book makes a single misstep, so there’s hope for my brain cells.

I know literally nobody will see this, but I feel like saying it anyway.

YA fiction is supposed to be trope-y. There’s always going to be multiple tropes per novel. The point is HOW the author writes those tropes, or subverts them, etc. So when y’all are complaining in your reviews that it was trope-y, I have zero sympathy. If you don’t like tropes, don’t read YA and then word vomit onto your keyboard.

Guess what my friends? I'm quitting roleplay! Yeah, I'm upset about it too, but I'm also not. I can't get excited about it anymore and with the complications of life it just doesn't fit. I'm sorry to all the roleplays I'm just dropping out of but I can't do it anymore. Don't worry, I'm not leaving Goodreads. I still need it for all my books and stuff. Of course I won't abandon y'all, but life is more important now.
