fun book so far but my eye is twitching that it's doing that thing in thrillers where the main character comes to a conclusion based on very little at all and then decides that conclusion is the absolute truth and operates as if it's been confirmed fact when it very much has not. so they miss obvious other clues bc of it. i'm sighing so deeply

reading agatha christie novels always feels like wow.....maybe writing really CAN be good

definitely weak compared to the first one. the actual murder seems even more irrelevant to the story than the one in the first book. book has managed to make beth infinitely more likeable and scarlett infinitely more UNlikeable all at once. beth continues to be the most underutilized character in this series, with few povs that are short and hardly any appearances in other people's chapters.

the recurring plotline of the main character being entirely unaware that she's dating this guy mostly off screen is so funny and endearing i love them

Reading this book is like being transported back to my family reunions in the late 90s and early 2000s, when I was too young to understand the tension from my family taking sides on if my half Black cousin should be allowed to come. I have no problem believing the awful bullying going on in this book because I've literally seen it. It leaves a pit in my stomach.

why is this aging woman talking like a 16 year old girl what is this dialogue. this scene is so anticlimactic

alright i'm calling it, killer is the person i've suspected most of the book, and i'm pretty disappointed tbh

a++ for the book giving finn a good reason to be making a dumb decision - it feels very natural and understandable. I loved the line that "He'd never thought about anything less in his life." he's a pretty charming character.

The multiple POV gimmick of this book seems to be both under utilized and OVER utilized to hide the fact that nothing has happened like...at all. we've really gotten no closer to finding the truth, there's been few clues except the vaughn thing and the white thing so if it's someone other than them i'm questioning the setup
