Okay, if you know me well, then you know that I always finish a book I've started. This is naturally not always a good thing. Often it is just plain stubbornness. So after setting this book aside, but putting it in a highly visible place, so I could make sure it was receiving my disappointing vibes, I resumed reading it. Who knows the future is for this book and I but for now I am attempting reconciliation.

I am on page 236 of this novel and simply cannot make myself read anymore. Just when I start to become invested in a character, the author starts telling me the life story of another (unrelated, I might add) character. At first I was hopeful that their stories would intersect. Now I'm afraid I must surrender. I loved Cutting for Stone and was looking forward to reading this novel. Alas, I surrender.
