Love this book so far. The quotes he includes make me want to re-read Eugene Peterson’s A Long Obedience in the Same Direction & Andrew Murray’s Waiting on God. 🤍

Like this quote from Peterson: “Hoping does not mean doing nothing. It is not fatalistic resignation. It means going about our assigned tasks, confident that God will provide the meaning and the conclusions.” ♥️

“Waiting on God is living on what I know to be true about God when I don’t know what’s true about my life.” 🤍 That’ll preach.

Living Life Backwards: How Ecclesiastes Teaches Us to Live in Light of the End

The double movement = recognizing the goodness in front of us and then directing our gaze in gratitude towards God, the Giver

Disruptive personal habits = recognizing & appreciating what is beautiful, creating space for self-reflection with the end of directing our attention towards God, praying before a meal in public to thank God for the gift, practicing a weekly sabbath

This book is challenging but 🤯

Picked this book back up for different reasons, but it’s super interesting to see the connections so far with this author’s argument and studying Ecclesiastes 👀
