Very slow, but fairly interesting characters?

Why the fuck do people castigate a person for being justifiably unhappy when their lover does something wrong or stupid?

Lydia chose to lie, repeatedly, and only spilled the beans AFTER they had sex. She also just dumped it on him in the most ungracious way possible, then had the AUDACITY to get pissy at Dylan for being upset. Like. She just ASSUMED that he wouldn't help, that he would fire her. Gah.

Henry and James are horrible horrible people (e.g. being ashamed of her, not taking no for an answer), and Sophie is their biggest apologist - but Lazarus is the worst? 🤷

She pushes him away all the time but god forbid she's not the centre of his universe

Felt sorry for the Sophie given most of her family, but I'm quickly losing all sympathy I had for her. She is hypocritical, argumentative, and runs so hot and cold I have no idea what she thinks about the Lazarus, despite her (meandering and boring) POVs. I feel like he should move on and see if there are women who actually like him (but ofc the others are all inferior to her, right? 🙄)

Tried reading a different type of this genre for novelty, but got super annoyed at the protagonists and had to abandon ship
