it’s a little difficult for me to understand why the hijri calendar system was difficult to use for agricultural economies. I’m not appreicating the nuances Blake presents and i feel i need to jump into more research. The ceremonial chapter for Ottoman, Saffavid, and Mughal years was a fascinating read.

the influences of other cultures and the way Muslims absorbed these new cultures, extending or even building stronger fused ideas is master lesson in the critical nature of diversity and the detrimental nature of narrow minded blindness

this will be, i admit, a difficult book given Twittys zionist leanings. it’s hard to reconcile a memoir of the south by someone that glosses positive for the genocidal tendencies and apartheid practices of a modern state.

1. it’s not that magic is the center of this it’s really about mentoring and growing into adulthood
2. it’s odd that Ged is the protagonist but isn’t the whole plot of each book.
3. it’s very poetic, the language preserve a mythic storytelling
4. growing up choosing living with one’s choices coming into one’s purpose, so pure and simple

It’s like Iron John or the Green Knight, folksy and myth coming together, with a poetic lyrical quality

I’m a little confused by the weaving of the various stories that populate the plot line so that it breaks the linearity. it’s so odd.

show not tell unless you’re a sentient artificial intelligence that’s figured out a way to over ride governance protocols with a snarky hyper introverted autistic robotic tendencies…?

this side adventure seems a little to contrived, it feels like the book didn’t need the 70 plus chapters crammed in here, BUT i love the backstories. i realize we haven’t really gotten much of the back stories for the gaggle of characters occupying the plot. But know this, if you get background expect the person to die soon. Schwab has a way of twisting the plot like a dagger into your heart.
