Working on logging in all the books I've read since March. My god, am I behind.

Finally finished The Navidson Record. Let's go, babyyyy!!!

It's almost a joke at this point that I'm still reading this 😅 I started on October 2023...

I read a chapter that didn't have Orpheus in it and I had an epiphany of why I don't like this book: I hate the MMC.

It's that trope of the guy being over protective to the point of controlling every aspect of the FMC's life, not trusting her to make her own decisions or do anything by herself. Yeah, I hate that trope. At best it romanticizes codependency and, at worst, romanticizes DV.

It's taken me a whole week to read this far. I just can't get into this. I'm starting to think this is going to be another DNF, but I'm considering just reading a chapter per day and finish it. The pacing, though 😫

I only have a chapter to go plus the epilogue, but this is a one star from me. Negative stars if I could. Marital rape and victim blaming isn't romantic. Sorry if that controversial opinion rocks someone's worldview.

I've been reading this really slowly because I kind of don't want this to end.

Part III (Queen) is kind of a slog, ngl.

I've noticed that the less it centers around Don Quixote, the more entertaining it is.

Idk what it says about me that I devoured all of part I in just a couple of hours.
