Day is staying strong. Day had just found out that June is leaving for Antarctica and that his brother Eden would be leaving too. He worries that something bad will happen to them because of the fighting with the Colonies, but he manages to get through it. "This time the fighting sounds worse... But I return to my conversation with Pascao" (148). This shows how Day ignores his fears and keeps his mind away from it.

June is nervous. June was just asked to kill the leader of her own country to try and help herself and Day but she is not sure she wants to betray her country. "It's for the best, I tell myself...Razor's plan for me sounds good, but something could go wrong"(88). This explains how June is having second thoughts about assassinating the Elector.

June is shocked. In this part of Prodigy the new Elector had taken his fathers place. Day June are on the run and they were going to find the Patriots who are a group that can help them. But the only way they will get help is if they kill the new elector. "Assassinating the new Elector, I say. Done" (32). June says that she sounded foreign and distant. June was confused to why she is turning on her own country.

Mare is depressed. In this part of the book many lives were lost. It was a huge turning point from before where Mare just found out about her powers. "My heart grieves for the lives lost" (292). This shows how Mare was very sad about how many people were killed.

Mare is confident. At this time Mare has been challenged by Evangeline, a very powerful silver to a fight. Mare has barley any experience and decides to fight anyways. Mare realizes she has no chance at all for winning but she knows she might as well try. "I'll teach you what it's like to know fear" (205). Mare says this because for a moment she was winning and was trying very hard to win. That is why Mare is brave.

A theme that has stood out for me was selflessness and courage. Isabel was a brave and kind hearted person. When Madame tried to hit Ruth, Isabel jumped in front of her and took the blow because she knew that was the right thing to do. Another part that showed selflessness and bravery, was when she brought food to the prison but risked getting in a lot of trouble. These are some reasons for why the theme is bravery.

Clary is feeling melancholy. Clary's brother Sebastian was trying to get her to help him rule the world; but she did not want to so when she had the chance she stabbed him. He did not fully die until after he talked with her. "Clary turned away; she couldn't bear it anymore. The sadness felt like a crushing weight..." (617). This shows how Clary was depressed about Sebastian's death.

Luke is worried. He has been locked in a cell and Sebastian has taken Jocelyn away. Luke had been thinking that Sebastian was torturing her or maybe even killed her. "Where's Jocelyn? It was Luke, of course, his voice a low growl, his hands in his fists at his side" (497). This shows how he was upset and angry with Sebastian for separating him and Jocelyn his new wife to be.

Simon is confused. Izzy, Clary, Jace, Alec, and Simon had traveled to Edom a demon dimension to find Sebastian. They had walked down a long tunnel. When they got to the end there was nothing. Then they each had weird dreams and when they woke up they didn't know why they had them. "We...saw things. Weird things" (384). Simon said this shows how he was baffled about the dream he had, and the dreams the others had.

Clary is anxious. In this part of the book Jace still has the heavenly fire inside him. He was fighting Sebastian and the heavenly fire reflected off of Sebastian and hurt Jace. Clary tried to heal Jace and ended up getting hurt also. "Did something else happen? Is there something you're not telling me" (221)? This quote shows how Clary is nervous for Jace and how he is doing.

Simon was confused. He has a matching ring with Clary that let them talk to each other in there heads. When he tried to communicate with Clary and she didn't respond he said "Clary, I'm about to do something stupid... But if you were dead, I'd know, wouldn't I? l'd feel it" (412). This shows how Simon was confused about Clarys whereabouts and what happened to her since she left Simon.

Jace faced an internal conflict. He had been on the run and Sebastian who is evil was controlling him. Jace had realized that Sebastian was making bad decisions. So he told Clary and he thought he should hand himself in to the Clave. He finally made his decision. "To the Silent City. I have to turn myself in- and the Cup, too" (408). This shows how his internal conflict was confusing and a hard decision to make.

Sebastian had been very secretive. He had been doing secretive things and started acting nice to Clary. Clary decided to follow Sebastian out of the house one day and a bunch of demons attacked her. Sebastian came out of no where and saved her! "Why did I what?" "Save my life?" "You're my sister" "You never cared that I was your sister before"(342). this proves how Clary was confused about how Sebastian was acting.

Clary is perplexed. She is very confused about what is going on with Sebastian and Jace. They took Clary to where they were hiding and she knew Sebastian was keeping a secret, but wasn't sure what exactly is going on. In the text Simon says "figure out what they are doing". Then Clary said "I mean nothing- to indicate what they're planning" (280). This shows how Clary was confused with the situation at hand.

Jace was apprehensive. Jace brought Clary to a building where a demon was, named Lilith. Lilith was in his dreams and controlled him through them. Lilith then made Jace bring Clary to her. "Jace Herondale, you heard me... Take it and kill either me or her.." (365). This proves Jace was startled about what was happening when he had been asked to kill someone he loved and couldn't control anything, including himself.

Simon is bewildered. A girl named Maureen who Simon thought was dead had come back to find him and turned into a vampire. Simon was shocked when he saw Maureen and the even stranger part was when Maureen brought him to a random place and he had no clue why.
"Where are we going?" He asked....
"Up ." She hit the button for the roof and giggled. "Up to heaven" (316). This proves how perplexed Simon was.

Jace is very mysterious. He has been acting very strange, and it's like someone or something is telling him what to do. The reason I think that is because he won't tell anyone what is going on. Not even Clary! "How long has it been since you slept?"
As in, through the night?" Jace considered. "Two weeks. Maybe three." (157) This shows how Jace has been acting mysterious and secretive.

Hodge was adamant. He didn't want to leave the jail because he thought Valentine would eventually kill him before the clave could. He was making sure that Jace and Clary would leave him but that didn't happen. "Samuel's voice rose to a scream. GO AWAY!" (268) This shows how Hodge was acting adamant and didn't want to leave the jail with everything going on outside it.

Clary was very obnoxious. She wouldn't listen to Luke about going to Idris and how she should just stay home. Instead of staying she made a portal with a stele and landed in Lake Lyn. Lake Lyn also happened to be very dangerous and was one of the reasons Luke didn't want her to go. "But I need to get to Idris , she said. I need to help my mother." (26). This shows how Clary was acting very obnoxious and desperate.
