This collection is actually two volumes. Don't know why Goodreads does not know that. Just finished vol 1. My library just made vol 2 available. If you like Romance Manga in a weird fantasy school setting this is for you. The MC Utena is a 14 year old girl who wants to be a prince, dresses in boys clothes and has girlfriends - she is living with her bride. This Manga has issues oh boy.

Oh crap this is a ROMANCE Manga! I have heard so much about this Manga and anime and no one mentioned it was a Romance book. No wonder the manly men that talked about it said I would not like it. IDK its fine if a bit disjointed in story. I am picking up gay / trans vibes from the MC.

Ugh, this is a great concept and idea. Scalzi writes very well and is a quick read. But parts of the family drama so far has not aged well.

I really wanted to like this book. But it just feels like it is taking forever to get started. Each chapter so far is from a different point of view and then there is only 5 pages a chapter. This jumping around from MC to MC of the chapter is getting annoying it might work in a comic but kind of annoying here.

Dang, considering how the last book ended. I am kind of shocked how pissy everyone in this book. Chris and Donna do not want or appreciate the clubs help. Elizabeth is being a not nice word toward them in some weird power / dominance thing it almost feels like someone did not read the last book before knocking this one out. Why are we covering old ground?

WTF is with this new character Herbert? I could do without his constant harassment & stalking. Having a strong character like Stephanie submit to his "help" is just ewww - it is ruining my enjoyment of the book. Just tell Ranger about him, problem solved - hell stun gun him.

I figured out what is bugging me - Elizabeth always has a plan - always.
So for her to just go "Joyce, we need to kill this guy" (Like the meme) is disappointing. The rest of the story is falling into place at least.

Oh lord, Mr Osman thinks he is being clever here I bet.
But this is just an over complicated introduction. Nothing interesting but a lot of threats to the lives of our intrepid club members. Sigh.

Oh, no! He was betrayed by his audience that did not want to go to a movie theater during a run away pandemic. We should die for his art? He was betrayed by WB... did he just forget WB cut his budget? That they were saying go to Netflix. Wait a few more months young man and see what WB does to work and minority focused moves.

OMG he turned down a Netflix deal back when netflix was throwing money at anything good! The deal he took was an insulting slap in the face and gave less money than the original WB offer. I want to ask what is wrong with him but then I remember youngest child and now an insecure only child. Despite 200 pages he still lacks a clue.

Sorry, I'm the oldest of the kids in my family. Reading about the youngest of a prestigious family who got expensive high end computers and software for free and is able to follow their dreams and all. It exhausts me.

Very unreliable narrator. MC Still racist.

Oh joy! Main Character is a very unreliable narrator. She is very bigoted, very rude, very violent. She has anger issues. This is an unpleasant read. Doubly so because the worldbuilding is not always true. If some sort of redemption arc does not start soon I may not finish.

This is starting to feel like someone read Snow Crash and tried to go with the idea of Language from that book. But left out the cyber and the punk and the cool to make something magical boring.

I am always surprised when an award winning book is just bad. Bad in the case of being a bit as other have said rapey - sex trafficing - racist.

I have been reading this for a few days now. I should be done by now because quick read. But life is stealing my reading time for "important" things. sigh

Now we are cooking. Just wish speed and action was not being indicated by chapters / point of view changes every page.

A good read. But Joyce is getting on my nerves.

A quick read. While the plot is completely predictable it is told in such a way that it is interesting.

Story pacing has improved and the overall story is entertaining - if overly dramatic.

This is nothing like Murderbot! It is a somewhat normal Fantasy novel. There is no snark, no self aware being trying to avoid murdering people/things. It is still a good read but you have been warned.

This story is just a little over the top!
The Trinity of Batman Wonder Woman Superman have become gods! In some plot by the bad guys (tm) to take over the universe.

I see, once again the Goodreads Choice Awards winners are books I have never heard of, none of my friends have read not IRL or GR friends. 3 of the books I have heard of but I have no interest in reading.

I miss the pre-Amazon days where a book that people I am friends with and whom read tons of books had actually, you know, read won.

Made it to part 3 but reading is kind of a slog. Lots of characters to follow and it feels like some of these stories are just sprinkled into the book randomly. It does not help that some of these chapters are 2-4 pages.

Hit "Part II" and I don't know if I'm going to finish. It is a well written and interesting story but maybe not for me. Blood sports not really my thing. Having condemned slaves doing the fighting just makes it worse.
