I'm at the end of the prison sequence and genuinely afraid whether progressing won't make me annoyed with the main character enough to chuck the book through the window - any advice appreciated

I'm at that point when everything seems somewhat falling into place and yet we're so close to the end the other shoe will drop any minute... And I don't think I can deal if this ends in a cliffhanger and I'll need to wait another half a year. So I'm just making an executive decision the book ends here, and going to pick it up when the next part comes out.

If anyone's wondering how long does it take for Diana to share that thing she did at the end of the previous book with S., it is almost sixty chapters in. Sixty. Chapters. Talk about someone that needs therapy, our Ig'Moruthen has emotional maturity of a teenager, not 1000+ year old being. At this point I'm just mad at myself for sticking with the book until now, as despite a really solid plot I'm so fed up with her
