This book started out soooo good. But the further and further I get, the messier and clunkier it gets and I’m wondering if it even had a full edit 🙄

Okay 1- why is everything described, then described again?
2- a princess wouldn’t be left completely alone in a castle.
3- I swear if this page says “malice” or “malicious” ONE more time 🙄 pick a new word.

Loving this so far, except the characters using each others name every other time the dialogue shifts to their turn is driving me nuts.

Notes:
Only 1% in and we’re already flip flopping on blonde vs blond and not spelling out anything numerical.
Repetitious words everywhere.

I am OOOOOOOVER the full name thing.
Every conversation does not need to have someone calling their partner by their full name in a scolding manner. For real….no one does that and it’s getting to be a lot.
Anyway.

Bristol is a giant hockey nerd, Speed is her rival team, she’s “done her research” on the new coach…..yet doesn’t know that’s who she just hooked up with? MASSIVE plot hole.

11% in and I’m cringing at the dialogue, it’s very awkward, and the over detail in every move this MFC makes is already old.
Hoping it picks up.
This book also needs a GOOD thorough edit 😬

I haven’t laughed this hard at a book in a long, long time.

Haven't even left 24% yet and there's another derogatory tone of "looking like a courtesan"....which is a prostitute.
Much more of this and I'll chuck it in the DNF. I can tolerate a lot of things but...

I'm not sure yet what I think of this book. I like Melisandre BUT.....I just read some slut shaming in the form of commenting a sheer dress "belongs in a whorehouse" and I'm not a fan.

I am thoroughly confused.
The descriptors in this book make it sound like it’s set in the past, like pre-industrialization.
But then the characters talk and they’re super crass and definitely from the here and now.
