I must of checked the 3 starts by mistake because I'm only half way through and so far it's a 4 star book. Surprising because the last few Sager books haven't been great for me. So far so good! Hopefully the back half sticks the landing.

I think I forgot just how incredible this book is.

I'm reading 4 books at the same time right now because nothing is catching my attention. But this certainly has. Only on page 30 and I don't want to put it down.

I've never rooted against a protagonist as hard as I am with Frankie. Hate her so much.

This book just took an unexpected turn. So freaking good!

Getting good and weird! Really enjoying this one.

Ugh, I hate all these characters.

What a weird and wonderful tale so far. I wasn't sure when the first chapter spanned 83 pgs but the book just gets better and better.

It is such a joy to be reading another Michael McDowell.

So, this book took a turn...

I like the idea of the story, love the setting, but the casual misogyny is pretty disheartening. There are five females:
1) the frightened girlfriend looking to her boyfriend to protect her
2) the cheating wife looking to her husband to protect her
3) the crying, terrified single mother looking to anyone with a penis to protect her
4) the crying, terrified child
5) the doting grandmother
*so many eyerolls*

And it's becoming much clearer.....

What is happening in this book?!?!
It appears to be an alternate reality from the first book.... maybe. Told in second person.... very strange. I have a few ideas where it is going but it's all very disconcerting so far.

This book is everything I want it to be and more!
