I'm confused why Winfield would offer up the knowledge for free that Darley belongs to Harry, when he knew all too well that it was illegal. He could've just not said anything and now Darley and Jarrett have to go to Alabama.

-At this point in the book it feels like very little has happened.

I enjoy eavesdropping but this guy takes it waaay too far😂

Mike is a total, total weirdo. His roommates are right about him. He has issues he needs to face and change. The plant microphone is so weird, and going to the convention alone and then hiding behind a trash can is even weirder.

I am enjoying the Star Rot chronicles a lot, they're fun and fascinating and I'd like more, thought I'm not convinced they have quite as much depth as Mike thinks they do.

This man and his identity crises at the most inconvenient possible moments, I swear.
Pacing: mostly slow. Characters: mostly not striking. World: sort of interesting.

-my goodness this book is paced slow. Much slower than Sunlit Man.
-I love Yumi & Painter together
-theory: the spirits asking Yumi to free her are the very ones her society depends on. It's pretty annoying to not know what the character goal is at THIS POINT in the book

This book was both funny and touching. It drew me in with anecdotes of mischief, and it felt personal and genuine.

It's kind of funny that nobody knows that Seungwoo does. He just works at a company doing company stuff.

Some books start out with charming, humorous writing that fades quickly. I'm on page 58 and it's still consistently funny, even as the tension rises.
