this is bringing me back to some theatre history courses in college… and I’m enjoying it!

I can’t… I respect this woman’s work as an actress, but my good Lord, as an author, she should’ve hired a ghostwriter! this book is very poorly written

got about halfway through this book while sitting on set the same day that I opened it . I heavily dislike instruction manuals and/or any sort of self-help type of generic prose — this, somehow, though helpful with what could call a bit of instruction, is not that ; enjoying this read about this writer’s writing life

Covered captured me walking thru the bookstore, I suppose after having watched a very surprising YouTube video series about Pamela last year, I picked it up and sat down. Bookstore closing announcements came on and I’d made it what seems to be a third of the way thru.. didn’t bring any money, intentionally, so I’ll be going to my local library to finish it.. Ugh, don’t want to be it down!

Though the memoir opens with an eye catching line and gets right into the meat and bones of the author's life, I can't say I've been whisked away into her world, not at any part this far. I'll continue reading because I am interested in knowing more about Viola Davis' journey, even though the writing itself doesn't hook me much.

I appreciate the perspectives offered , but the writing style isn’t easily digestible
