the blurb says “young single mother”, so you can imagine my surprise that elizabeth is forty (40)???? who is saying having a baby at 32 makes you a young mother??? (not saying she’s an old hag, but 32 is older than the average 30 year old first time mother, what are we doing angie? sincerely a 25 year old teen mom, apparently)

every time i remember how much parental leave americans get i’m shook, like 6 months unpaid is diabolical 😭

sally rooney’s writing is so hard for me to follow most of the time and i truly do hate how she writes dialogue but somehow i still keep reading….

i assume we’re supposed to like heath but thus far i just….. don’t? like he’s so boring, sorry, being obsessed with the main character is basically his only personality trait at the moment. maybe i just like the sports-drama part more than the romance, but this man better get some ambition and drive or this is gonna be a loooooong book…

my problem with buying books is that i always get distracted by whatever is on express loan at the library and totally neglect them. exhibit a: having this “in progress” for 2 whole weeks already but not even reading 40 pages 🤦‍♀️
