Ah, this went into a direction I did not anticipate. Color me intrigued. Also, scared, of course. Very scared.

Wow, alright, I love getting dumped right into the action! Do I know what‘s going on? Hardly, but I‘m here for it.

Fifty pages in, and I can see that the protagonist is being a right brat for very little reason. Also, the "enemy" part of the inevitable Enemies-to-Lovers drama seems to be mostly on her end. He's just... there.

I must hold on to the belief that evil WILL be vanquished!

This book is relentless.

This is going to hurt me in all the right places.

This book is as difficult to stomach (pun intended) as I expected it to be. At the heart of a good vampire story is always the struggle for one‘s humanity.

I like the voice acting, but given the idiosyncratic language of the characters, I wonder if a physical book might not have been a better choice. I know I read better than I listen. On the other hand, the voice actors and actress really are doing a great job which definitely helps with the immersion.

Honestly, people not listening to each other (and thus unnecessarily prolonging a misunderstanding) is one of my pet peeves, but this is worse: one character actually understands what happened, but refuses to forgive an injury that is only imagined even so. I'm not annoyed enough to give up on this yet, but I am rolling my eyes a lot.

This book is pure torture. There could be a good story underneath it all, but instead, I constantly have to endure how the musclefully muscled male protagonist muscles musclely around, making our FMC's eyelids flutter, stomach clench, blood rush, and, most offensively, "heat pool". Girl (and I mean you, Megan, the author), STOP.
