I’m actually really enjoying this. I understand why people have said it’s slow - and it is, because we’re stuck in Coriolanus’ narrow frame of mind. But I love reading about the world through the eyes of an unreliable narrator, even if he can be insufferable at some times. It would be cool to have Lucy Grays POV as well just to add some more tension but I think that Clare has done well

I feel like I'm too stupid to enjoy this book. Lol

This is already a five star read for me. It’s just incredibly enjoyable. It’s a romance book so it’s nothing groundbreaking, but screw me. I’m loving it

I hate that this book is going to be on my goodreads bookshelf but at least the physical copy I own doesn’t have a black and white photo of a man on it 😌

The only thing getting me through this book is by telling myself I’m “hate-reading” it

Now that the romance has been introduced into the story it’s starting to pick up for me, but it’s just so slow.

I can see the comparisons of the swamp/the wild and animals to human nature and I like that. I hope it goes a bit deeper into that

I’m starting to get nervous…am I reading the same book as everyone else? So far all I’ve read is excessive descriptions of the swamp/marsh (I don’t care which one it is honestly) and the words “grit” and “cornbread” more times than I can count. And I ain’t charmed
