The worst seems to be over; pgs. 140-148 are the most glaring examples of the issues with Beauvoir's writing style: droning paragraphs where she repetitively lists off names of people, number and stats, and dates of events that aren't necessary to establish a point she's trying to make. That stretch went into way more detail than was needed which made it a drag to get through.

Her lack of commas, run on sentences, and blocks of text containing various subjects that really should've been broken up into smaller paragraphs are KILLING me here. I've had to reread these sentences way too many times.

This is tough to get through. I started this book to find an explanation, and reading through all of the History section is really not giving me that (which it doesn't have to). Her habit of constantly listing out people and dates in this section really drags the flow of her arguments down a lot: it's very tedious. Really hoping the struggles I'm having now are exclusive to this section....
