When a certain character died in chapter 2 of this book I began to realize how wildly different this book is going to be from the show (which I adore). But I think I’m glad. Movies/Shows never live up to books and the books always become my favorite. I rather enjoy when the adaptation is different enough to become its own thing.

It’s been a while since I’ve read this, but I won the whole series at a White Elephant gift exchange so here we go! (Thanks Greg and Michelle)

I don't think I've ever seen a Christmas Carol adaptation that does the Cratchett family right (and I've seen a lot of them). They are precious.

Got a craving to read this one again. :)

I have Brothers Karamazov questions....

1. Why was Lise even in the book? I mean honestly...
2. WHAT HAPPENED TO IVAN?
3. Can we get an epilogue showing Alyosha in 20 years?
4. I can't believe we don't get any final thoughts FROM IVAN.

WHATT. That's how it ends???

Okay, now I am loving this book.
The way Dostoevsky uses a murder, not for shock value, not for sensationalism, not for any sort of entertainment, but to slowly, meticulously hold a microscope to everybody in the surrounding community and show how their characters, their histories, their worldviews play into their reactions is BRILLIANT.

I keep thinking of G.K. Chesterton's "Orthodoxy" as I read this...
