I know I read nearly 180 pages, but I only have 37 to go, so I may as well have finished it. I doubt much more can happen, and it started off just wonderful.

7 books ahead of schedule

Kristin Hannah transported us not only into a war zone, but into the shoes of the nurses who enlist in the Military. It's not really something I had ever experienced before, which made the story so riveting. Then, it's become somewhat unrealistic? There's a moment, for example, after she's been gifted a home by her family where her father praises every male in her profession except her (?) I just don't envision it

Alright, so I just sat and read 30 pages, going to push to 40 so it's closer to me reading 10% in the day. Compelling story and she's on her way back home now

Get some pages in when I can, currently 7 books ahead of schedule, but I actually didn't read "Oh gosh, my mate's an Alpha" and don't know if that is an actual book.

Begining a piece of work and sometimes you wonder why you've been chosen to partake in each one "the resilience and ability to prosper far from home", considering yesterday was a tad dreary that is nice

Lost weight due to the trial of carrying bags from shopping, so trying to eat/rest up. Not feeling bad and enjoying the book, but may miss my 10% today, no rush.

10% again, still loving the story

Getting lost in this book, I'm still trying to keep my 40 pages a day going but going to leave the next 13 to be read with a slice of cake once I'm back from food shopping

BOOM. 40 pages read, and the day is still young. This is a complete luxury for me because soon I'll be back full-time. No time off for a number of months, weathering a rain and minor headaches. But, it's still possible. Will try and see if I can keep this up :) (no pressure)

She hadn't written in days. Unable to put a pretty spin on her life. She could write and say she was safe, she supposed. That was what they wanted to hear. Although, in truth, that was what her mom wanted to hear. She had no idea what her dad wanted, he hadn't written a single letter.

I feel for her, as I read on, I like her all the more. I rec'd to women living alone. Her dad didn't think she woul chase this.

She's gone from night shift to day shift and now is training in Surgery. I love her journey

She put on the pyjamas her mum sent her and opened a tin of biscuits. A bar of chocolate, twinkie's and smiled. When she opened the letter, a picture fell out (from her family) of protestors burning the American flag.

I love her story and I think she's doing the right thing.

I wanted to take myself for a walk this morning but I'm exhausted. House clean, breakfast had, and I've even had good news. I'm healing well so good shout for the emergency surgery. And I've tried to get a couple pages but now I remember the surgery my jaw aches a bit

Reckon in a few days I'm ready to go again!

I love this book, what happened to the young people? Or, are they not providing any assistance to the young people, which is why they see none? Loving this exploration of the Vietnam war.

Nurses and NHS staff will probably love this for a book club

So I HIGHLY rec'd, this young woman who doesn't many ethnic friends if any, working her way through setbacks and rejection. Is super loveable and there's nothing wrong with the way your life was made out to be. The people in your lives, parents always tried their best regardless. Even with war and social change you not having any friends from Mozambique doesn't say anything about you. So these texts are important

I'm about to start a dream job and I've been rejected from this same position - same department. I tried again. Even as you watch this woman grapple with her decisions there's smg realistic about it (the writing I think is more mature in the nightingale but I love both so far) with her being rejected along the way. So she doesn't just float into her dream position, she works her way through setbacks and rejection.

So at points, she's thinking "what can I even offer right now"

It's hard to express the speed of life here. I'm either terrified or exhausted. When my head hits the pillow, I'm out. Turns out you can learn to sleep through anything if you're tired enough [I LOVE HER]. I've been focusing on improving my skills. Which were, to put it kindly, subpar. I work long hours where I've been assigned.

No idea why, I never thought they would send black nurses to Vietnam. You have a point where the main character is noticing, her life is completely free of black women. And they even question her as to why, so she can work it out.

I love Kristin Hannah, but then I'm a young woman living far away from family purely because I have specific dreams of my life and career so, I can't help but also love the main charac

The idealism, you know she's about to be hit like a ton of bricks.

She's now living independently.

Everything made sense to her. Rules existed for a reason and you followed them to maintain order. Fitting in, being a part of something larger, knowing your job and doing it without question. She was comfortable with all of it.

This was the only way to prove to her parents that she had been smart, courageous even, success mattered to them.

I really love her and what a wonderful choice

It's a romance book but at this point she's just trying to make her family proud by showing her competence and I appreciate Kristin Hannah beginning the book like that.

Kristin Hannah developed a career for herself, so potentially this all builds upon her life before being an author. Her own experiences, god forbid some people want to show competence (smh)

Books have come a longggggg way, from Virginia Woolfs A Room Of One's Own, which advocates, as is kind of obvious, women having their own space to develop their political positions better/get to know yourself.

To this book where a woman has introduced you to her family, gone through university and is now navigating a career without having a love interest or being thrown off her dreams by romance. I know it will come
