This biography of Thomas Jefferson takes a non-traditional approach in that it explores Jefferson's life by focusing on key episodes, i.e., his presidency, retirement at Monticello, rather than examining his life in one long narrative. Some may find this to be a psycho-history. Ellis makes no such claims. He simply observes. Others may not like their perfect image of Jefferson tarnished by Ellis' thoroughness.
