I had to return the book to the library. The story did not resonate with me

Poetic, but the material talks about many difficult subjects. Sometimes I have to put it down and take a break, but you have to hand it to Morrison for being able to portray the characters with such conviction. It is hard not to feel what they feel.

Slow reading but I am enjoying some of the parts. It might need a second read to really understand.

It’s slow going at first but after a while it gets interesting. We start learning more about V’s life.

This is thus far a complex book, very challenging with several allusions to Greek mythology. It is a story within a story with several layers.

There are some threads in this book that were interesting thus far but don’t seem very developed. I hope it all comes together soon.

So far I enjoy that the chapter are so brief and filled with detail. It seems to fit in well to my busy life.

So far, great context about this time period which brings authors like Charles Dickens and Louisa May Alcott stories to light. Also I'm surprised so far by the differences in the many classes of poverty vs. rich and how these women struggled in their own way.

"It wasn't tears you felt, not at first. It was more like being bathed in ethyl alcohol, which we used at home to anesthetize our insects."

Some of the connected train of thought from topic to topic in this book is fairly brilliant. Also it brings up a really good question on the philosophy of science, whether we can analyze the experiences of others, if we have permission to judge, and is why a fair question?
