I can't believe Dorothy Sayers did this to us!!!! I hardly read these for the mystery—I read them for Lord Peter, for the pleasure of hearing him talk piffle and for his and Harriet's relationship and she gives us this:

"He grinned with a wry mouth, and went out to keep his date with the one young woman who showed no signs of yielding to him, and what he said or did on that occasion is no way related to this story."

I was worried about another Helena-Elias situation—Ember in the Ashes, if you don't know—I am ecstatic to report that it is not that kind of situation at all, despite how similar it looks.
I wish I could just keep reading it and forget sleep and work all weekend 😂
