Gaby
Gaby is starting Taste: My Life Through Food
Apparently the Italian kid bringing 'weird' food to school for lunch is a universal thing. Just his classmates wanted his food and mine made comments that low key traumatized 5-year-old me

Gaby is starting Female Fantasy
This is like bad fan-fic...I just don't know what it's fan-fic of.

Alternatively, this is the sort of story I came up with when I was like 11 and thought every idea I could ever come up with belonged in the same story.

Gaby
Gaby is starting Monarch (Grimstone, #2)
I think this book was rushed? I'm finding a lot of typos and clunkier writing that usually shows up in a first draft but gets cleaned up by the time the book is released, especially if it's more out of the norm than usual. (Like, these books aren't masterpieces, but they're usually not this repetitive stilted and such?)

Gaby
Gaby is starting Heavy Crown (Brutal Birthright, #6)
I think I'm tired of authors trying to write about topics without doing any research. Like, even on the simplest things. Like Sebastian, you don't have to be an active Catholic, but you 150% would have been raised that way. The layout of Chicago is....iffy, and the whole organized crime underbelly seems stuff is heavy handed and feels corny and unreal.

Gaby
Gaby is starting Night Shift (Daydreamers, #1)
Don't appreciate the intentional irony that the main character hates the miscommunication trope and the whole book is just that over and over

The author clearly wrote this in installments without necessarily checking back for details. Because, for example, how is one's hair both cut close to the skull and floppy at the same time?

Gaby is starting Rewind It Back (Windy City, #5)
A grown ass woman holding a grudge against an at the time 19 year old girl for what her own husband did is a stretch.

Gaby is starting Rewind It Back (Windy City, #5)
The timeline of this book in relation to the others makes no sense
It sort of just feels like it's fan service because the other characters from the other books show up far more than seems natural.
Honestly, I get it, it's supposed to be cute that the character's friends want them to be with the person they have feelings for and such, but if I had friends that meddled this much, that would drive me nuts.

Some characters have too much build-up, and when they get their own book, it sort of falls flat, you know?

Like, writing a book that completely changes a character's personality can't just be explained away by saying they mask or fake it for others, because part of why readers are looking forward to that character's book is FOR that personality.

The word "bellows" keeps showing up in these books to denote speech and, like, Ms. Cate, I don't think that word means what you think it means.
