Could be much better. Good ideas and direction but no academic fluff or research. Reads like a blog. The message is really important but the execution is not … satisfying. Feels very rushed, and very pop-psychology.

So far really bad. Focus is on eliminating trouble behaviour through clear conditional love; punishment and reward. The language is also horrendous.

“Who was responsible? Neither kings, nor priests, nor merchants. The culprits were a handful of plant species, including wheat, rice and potatoes. These plants domesticated Homo sapiens, rather than vice versa.”

What a load of s**t.

Here is what I learnt so far:
Use metaphors to sell books. Use metaphors to bend truths into a narrative that supports your goal. Use metaphors!

Did you know that the origin of this book was a Quora post the author wrote and received so many upvotes for? Reflecting on the mass number of views and traffic it generated, he decided perhaps this would sell if I was to turn it in to a book.

I have no idea how it is possible that this author came to these ideas at 55 AD. He talks about public speaking, love, materialism, ... all in a voice that seems too modern for his age. I love the book, and the way it is structured makes for a daily or weekly read. Hence, I am going to take all my time reading this book. It's too valuable to skim right through, & the ideas are too scattered to finish in a short time!
