The book is taking me apart. It has the same wonderful kindness to it as The House in the Cerulean Sea, the same wonderful imagination, but it's also so much heavier.

When Alan screamed, I wanted to scream, too. When we saw Cameron's flashbacks, I felt like something died in me as well. I can barely stand the idea of reading more -- but the idea of stopping is even worse.

What a rollercoaster...

Food for thought on the topic of how Audible Exclusive is hurting local and independent bookstores, and libraries (which means: less financially fortunate people). I recommend reading the comments, too (though they're a bit too snarky for my taste).

Wow, I'm 2% through the book and I already have 35 highlights or notes on the cool writing techniques Jemisin is using. I'm stoked.

Here's an amazing article about N. K. Jemisin. If you have the time, I strongly encourage anyone interested in books and the writing process to read it. It also touches on the topics of dreams, being a black sci-fi writer and much, much more. I found it so informative and encouraging!

I'm not sure I can read any further. I know it's exactly at the last turning point and I'm not sure my heart can take more drama. Can all of the characters just survive and then live happily ever after? Please?
