I’ve loved the practical, immediately applicable advice this book has offered. While it’s too much for me to incorporate into my process all at once, I have made notable improvements since I began reading, even if I’m only using a few of the ideas being presented. It’s taken the pressure off of the process and has begun to bring back my enjoyment of writing after a few difficult years.

What a wonderful reminder that we are reading from the perspective of a monster. This book has been wonderful about keeping that idea at the forefront of my mind, but this page in particular is a standout. “His girl. His. Here in the Capitol, it was a given that Lucy Gray belonged to him, as if she’d had no life before her name was called out at the reaping.” I’m gonna reread the end of Mockingjay after this.

It’s pretty good! Not much in the way of action but it’s a wonderful insight into what it’s like to find a label that fits, particularly aspec identities.
