This may be a DNF for me. I'm well into this, and I know I enjoyed his other collection of stories (2 of which overlap with this collection). Still, I can't get into these. I basically forced myself through them so far. The Gong was probably the best so far. I'm on "The Taste of Apples" now. We'll see...

This might be a DNF for me. Love the idea of a travelogue of a Japanese person to Taiwan during the occupation. Seeing the sights and sounds and cities and places through different eyes. But it seems to concentrate almost exclusively on food. This is great, but it skips over the locations more or less, with just a passing mention of them; even Taichung, where she’s based.

I have no clue what I'm reading...

Ok right away, something odd. My copy has the exact same cover as the one shown on goodreads, but the title of mine is "Dall'inferno al Paradiso", rather than the other way around.

So far there have been 3 male characters, all married, and they all went for younger girls. 2 of these while married, the other after his wife and child died and he vowed revenge (which he seems to have forgotten about). Honestly not sure if I'm going to stick with this. It's very long. I'm also still not sure what the significance of the Munch paintings is.

Loving the Buffett/Munger quotes, but many of the lessons are things you find in other books, especially behavioral econ books. Topics mentioned so far:
Prisoner's Dilemma
Loss Aversion
Sunk costs
Among others.

I might dnf this. I appreciate the Munger/Buffett insight, but the asides and explanations make this sound suspiciously like another behavioral econ book. So far I've recognized Prisoner's Dilemma, Loss Aversion, Sunk costs, Anchoring, Peak-End rule. No Ultimatum game yet, but you never know.

Anyway, I'll see. I should just read more BH annual reports

Ok, I'm thinking Behavioral econ is very important for business. So how about all entrepreneurs/biz owners be given a crash course in behavioral econ?
Or maybe hire a bunch of behavioral economists to run a business.

Actually, pit those 2 groups against each other, and see which comes out on top. The conclusions to that would probably warrant another book.

I mean, this started out so promising. Based on Charlie Munger's "Mental Models", I was ready to gain tons of knowledge. But so far, it seems to be regurgitating a bunch of Behavioral economics, game theory, etc., which you can find in plenty of other books. Covered so far: Being antifragile, Confirmation bias, recency bias, freeriders, framing effect, etc. I'm waiting for the obligatory Ultimatum game and I'm done.
