The last book that I read, “Flowers For the Devil” by V. Kahany, featured a character named Rumi, named after the Persian poet. This novel begins with a quote by Rumi (the poet, not the character). Bizarre.

Rumi’s words, btw:

“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.”

This is the second book in a row that I’ve read that has name-dropped Jackie Kennedy when describing a party scene. I mean, I know that as a socialite she would have attended a lot of parties in the late 50s/early 60s, but this is a rather strange literary trend.

The Disney nerd in me is jumping up and down at being reminded of how much of an impact the New York World’s Fair had on Walt Disney and Imagineers when envisioning EPCOT/“The World of Tomorrow”: the Perisphere, model city of tomorrow, international pavilions, Lagoon of Nations (with accompanying fireworks show!), etc...
